Dell 5567 Expanding Battery

My battery expanded such that the aluminum casing bulged a little and warped the trackpad. The latter's right and left click have frozen. The unit is working well and the battery is charging properly. Is it saffe to continue using the 5567? What is the possibility it will explode, plugged or unplugged? Mangpalok

The only thing you can do is replace the battery at the first sign of swelling.  Just about all batteries of this type will swell when they're at the end of their lives -- there is no longer a steel casing around the battery as there used to be, that prevents them from swelling when the electrolyte starts to break down as they age.

Thanks. It was a very short battery life of about a year and a half after purchase brand new. I hope the next battery lasts longer.
