Dell G3 3579 SSD upgrade

Hi I have a Dell G3 3579 that came with a 1TB HDD and 128gb SSD and I wanted to know if the M.2 NVMe PCIe port supported a 1TB M.2 SSD because I just want to make sure before I buy the Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVMe

To get this information you need to log on to  Dell Support, enter your model number, and most importantly Enter your Service Tag Number.

That will open all the hardware information on your Particular notebook, You should download and read your Service Manual there you will find out how to open your notebook The section on upgrading your storage should answer your question the m.2 slot needs to be full length 2280 and you need to know if your system supports NVME or only SATA. Once you know these things you can decide which SSD to purchase.

I checked the service manual for my laptop service tag number. Manual mentions supports m.2 2280 disk up to 512GB capacity . Does it mean 1TB capacity m.2 2280 disk would not work?

512 gb is all the tried. my experience says 1 or 2 TB will work there all basically the same size and draw the same power. That is in the Samsung line. I can't speak for any other brands.

Tried 2TB PCI e SSD and it didn't work, had to return it. Will try it with a 1TB drive this time

In what way did it not work? were you unable to clone your current Hard disk/SSD to the new M.2 2TB SSD?

Did a Clean install fail due to the fact that window install could not see your new volume? That would be due to the F6 Flpy RST driver would need to be installed for your new volume to be visible as a volume to install too?

A clone would be the easiest way to set up a new SSD as all drivers needed would be there on the new Cloned SSD. In fact, your system would see it exactly the same way it sees your current HD/SSD only larger is volume.
