Dell Inspirion 15 5379 AC Adapter issues

I got my computer about a year ago and its constantly had issues. Many of them I have fixed, such as my internet shutting down all of a sudden and the disappearing disk space, but this one is the most mystifying. My computer sometime will not charge. When I plug it in the first time, it doesn't charge but when I plug it into a different outlet, it starts charging. Sometimes, uninstalling the AC Adapter in device manager and scanning for hardware changes or restarting fixes it, but its getting really annoying and I want a permanent fix.

You sure the problem is with AC adapter and not a failing battery? Does the LED indicator on AC adapter lite up to a solid green or blue color? You check status of the AC adapter and battery health in the BIOS? If no, please follow steps below:

1. Power off system

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F2 key continuously until you see the BIOS setup.

Under the main tab, look for the option that says AC adapter type. If the Adapter type says None or Unknown then it's an issue with the adapter.

Note: Wiggle the adapter's end while checking it in the BIOS. This will help determine if the DC Jack is loose or damage.

Lastly, run diagnostic to check the battery health by following steps below:

1. Power off computer

2. Power on computer, quickly start tapping the F12 continuously until you see Preparing one time boot menu in the top right corner of the screen. In Dell Preboot menu, select diagnostic. After the quick tests finished, select Primary Battery and then Thorough Test Mode. Report back any error code.
