Dell Inspiron 15 7579 Screen Replacement
One of my kids broke the screen of my wife's laptop. I am adept at repairing computers so I figured I would take on repairing the laptop myself. Here is where I fell into a conundrum.
Most Dell Inspiron 7579 laptops have a 40 pin connection on the screen which is for both the display and touch capabilities. My wife's 7579 laptop has a 30 pin connection and a separate connection for the touch screen. My wife's laptop must be an early model. The 30 pin screens are hard to find and outrageously expensive.
In order to save a boatload of money, can I switch out the 30 pin display cable (0D44PN) with a 40 pin display cable and have the 40 pin screen work? I do not believe there are differences in the motherboard connections which would prohibit this.
Thanks for your help, Chris

The motherboard is 08C9FN version A00. Is version A00 capable of utilizing a 40 pin combined (display + touch) to 40 pin (motherboard) display cable, or can it only use a 30 pin (display) + separate (touch) to 40 pin (motherboard) cable?
