Dell Inspiron 17 7779 Maximum Memory

Hi,

While replacing the 1 TB HDD drive with two SSD drives in my Dell Inspiron 17 7779 we noticed that there was only one DIMM populated in the DIMM Slot.  It's a 16 GB DIMM.  I'd like to add another 16 GB DIMM maximizing the RAM in this machine to 32 GB of RAM.

Is this possible with this machine?  On the Dell site it says the maximum RAM is 16 GB.  On another site (RAM vendor) it says that the maximum RAM is 32 GB.

I want to verify what it is here before spending a lot of time and not having it work.

Can anyone tell me what the correct answer is?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

This forum post is from a user that upgraded to 32 GB of RAM and reports that it works without a problem.

I have this machine and did exactly that. Dell will say you cannot because they want to push people into a higher end machine.  Works without flaw.
