You too could benefit system improvement from Dual-Channel memory with an upgrade to 4GB or 8GB.

As far as updating the HDD/SSD that's another question and should be another post.

We would need to know M.2 SSD, 2.5" SSD, Intel Optane replace with SSD etc.???

For now  8GB memory "2x4GB Matching Pairs" would be an easy upgrade.

It's unlikely that your laptop is running slow and unresponsive because it has only 4GB RAM.

My Inspiron 1545 only has 3GB RAM, but Windows 10 runs fast on it.

Does your laptop have an SSD drive?

Did the laptop come pre-installed with any bloatware?

Manuals are good for reference but are not the limitation of the hardware.

Most manuals are in reference to what was sold with the laptop/desktop.

Because of the memory type, memory bus and CPU the max would be what the CPU is rated.

What CPU do you have installed???

I also have the 5482 and I would like to upgrade the RAM to 32 Gig as mentioned in your note.

I see that you and Crucial say that the system can take up to 32 gig (and this makes sense to me, given that each slot can take 16)

But... the user manual (on page 14) states that the system max is 16gig

You will have no problem upgrading to 32GB memory.

My hardly 2 months old inspiron 5482 2 in 1 laptop with 4 GB RAM is damn slow. Its so slow that how can u sell such laptops in current times. I tried finding the RAM upgrade but I get no results on Dell India website. Please suggest.

You could go to a local shop and have them do the upgrade???

Or purchase the ram locally and install it yourself???

I have been using a 64GB crucial kit on this Inspiron laptop (core i7 8565U) since January 5th of this year without any issues. 3 months of rock-solid performance.
