Dell Inspiron 5577 SSD upgrade

Question

Hey there, I have a dell inspiron 5577 gaming laptop with the standard 1TB HDD, I want to add an ssd to it to the port inside will the "Crucial P1 500GB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD" work?

Simple answer..yes absolutely. I have a 256 GB NVME with a 500 GB SSD and it runs just fine. Granted your choices are larger but I do not see a problem.

Hi, Mine i5577 15 5000 came with 512gb SSD only. I checked and the HD slot inside the laptop is empty so would it be possible to add a 1 TB SATA there?  Thanks guys!

Yes you can. Just check to make sure the HDD bracket and cable are already included otherwise you have to purchase those parts.

Hi Aayush. I have a similarly specced laptop with a 1tb HDD. And I installed the crucial p1 500gb SSD and it works seamlessly, though the preparation process before cloning *(with Acronis for crucial) took a long time to finish cause of excluding upto 400 gb of my 1tb HDD. Long story short, it'll work and you'll enjoy the speed it'll take to start up the laptop.

Hi there, I use a Dell inspiron 15 5577 gaming model. The original model when ordered came with a 1 tb hdd and no ssd. I would like to know if it is alright to externally install a WD Green 128gb or WD blue 256GB ssd for this laptop. It currently uses a WD Blue 1tb hard drive.

Will there be a compatibility issue with using the ssd and hdd together in one system.

HI I find it strange that there are so many different versions of the Inspiron 15 5577 gaming laptop.

Mine came with a 128GB M2 ssd as the bootup drive and a 1 TB second drive, the SSD isn't really big enough and will be upgraded at some point, 8gb ram which is now 16gb

If you look at crucial technology drives they can tell you what you can add to your laptop.

Both my drives are Toshiba branded, interestingly the service manual shows a shield on the ssd, mine doesn't have one, any comments on this bit welcome, I'm assuming because the ssd is the M2 2280 type it doesn't have one.

@JOcean I have an 1TB 5400RPM Hdd in my laptop which came with it and I want to install M.2 SSD in the empty slot. But I opened the back panel and found that the M.2 slot is designed as a M-key slot, so my question is can I install a M.2 Sata Samsung 860 SSD in it as my budget is a little tight and SATA one comes with a M & B key both?? and don't want to got for the NVMe drives.

So can we insert M.2 SATA SSD in this laptop model?
