Dell g5 5587 Random shutdowns past 50 degrees

My Dell g5 5587 has recently started to randomly shutdown after reaching past 50 degrees. Laptop runs well for hours if under 45 degrees. Dell power manager is terrible and I am using HWinfo64 to keep my fan running constantly. If the fan stops running, the laptop shuts down in just a few minutes. I also repasted and cleaned the dust which didnt fix the problem. I performed factory reset as well as BIOS reset but the problem presists. During the bootupafter shutdown, the laptop blinks 3 amber lights and a white light which points out CMOS battery failure and after changing the battery the problem still presists. I have ran dell diagnostics which shows no hardware problems and also reseated memory along with running on a single memory. I also disconnected battery to run on A/C and only run on battery which didnt solve the problem.

On cinebench R20 CPU stress test, the temps didnt go past 56 degrees and didnt shutdown. However in the 3DMark, the laptop did shutdown in the middle of test with temps still under 60 degrees.

I do have my suspicions as I might have applied too much thermal paste and didnt tighten one of the screws between heatsink and the CPU because it was stripped.

Any help will be appreciated as my warranty recently expired.

Hey,

Tell me what reaches 50C temp? CPU or GPU? it kinda looks like GPU Fan problem. Are you sure that you properly attached both fans to motherboard? What bios do you have?

Try repasting once again, make sure to chech if cpu die is not cracked, check if all the screws are screwed in. Did you do clean install od Windows? maybe it's not hardware problem but software?

One more thing: Did you overclock your GPU? try lowering core clock and memory clock in MSI afterburner. Did you undervolt your cpu?

I would suggest you to run Diagnostics on the system to check if any of the hardware components are failing. Please try the following steps to run the ‘Diagnostics’.

Restart the system and as soon as the system restarts, keep tapping the ‘F12’ key multiple times on the keyboard. You will see the ‘One Time boot menu’, select ‘Diagnostics’ from the list. This will run a variety of tests and once done, it would give you an option to continue and exit. Select ‘Exit’ and Press any key to continue. Then select ‘Test System’, ‘Custom Test’ and run all the tests selecting ‘Graphic/Video card’.

I ordered missing screws as well as new paste and will do these asap. All fans including GPU works and are attached properly. Bios is 1.14 which is the latest. CPU goes up to 56C and doesnt shutdown. GPU goes up to 60C and shuts down, but 3Dmark was much longer test than cinebench so it doesnt really tell much. I fully reset the laptop after the problem, and didnt fix it. Also reset BIOS settings with no luck.

Diagnostics didnt yield any defects unfortunately. I did do all hardware diagnostics including battery, ram, ssd, fans, manually and everything seems to be Ok unless its a motherboard problem. The cpu and gpu tests werent long enough so it passed.

Update: After reapplying Arctic mx-4 and tightening all screws laptop still shuts down. For once it passed all tests and shut down after an hour of idleness. Second time,  didn't even have to run any tests, it shut down after a few minutes at around 44 C both CPU and GPU. I dont know what the problem is. And no I haven't done any overclocking, in fact, I've tried undervolting the CPU and still shuts down.
