Dell inspiron 5505 crashes when in sleep Windows 10 & 11
Dear all,
My inspiron 5505 laptop has the "not that nice" feature of crashing and rebooting when it is in sleep. This always happens if the laptop is in sleep for more than a few minutes.
When this happend in windows 10 the computer restarts randomly and obviously any open windows are lost.
When i upgraded to windows 11 today this issue persists, but with the additional issue of the Qualcomm QCA61x4A bluetooth / wifi adapter switching to bluetooth only, hence no possiblilty to connect to wifi. I also flagged this issue in the microsoft community, but to no avail. It is very cumbersome to reboot and do a shut down restart cycle every time this sleep no wifi happens.
Did update drivers using dell update, also ran support assist (and prior times as well). previously my computer has been sent to Dell for this issue.
I used my laptop as if out of the box, so with the default windows shipped by Dell prior to upgrading to windows 11. After that i did only change power plans and device manager as described at microsoft.
Any idea / help to stop my inspiron 5505 from crashing in sleep?

For future reference; friendly Dell employee Abhaas did send me this guide via private messages:
https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/nl-nl/000129781/steps-for-fixing-windows-computers-that-do-not-wake-up-or-resume-from-suspend-or-hibernate-mode-but-will-power-on?lang=en
I did the following 3 things in parralel. Do not know what fixed it but I am now two days without a single crash in sleep mode.
Switched off the activation timers in energy management.
Downloaded a radeon (my cpu and onboard graphics is from AMD) driver that did not appear to be in the xml driver list export off the dell update app.
Did the Refresh hiberfil.sys File off the Dell guide.

I recommend you to perform the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Try updating system BIOS
Note: Before flashing the BIOS please check the following:-
- Battery should have 10% or greater charge
- Adapter should be connected
- No external devices should be connected
- All other programs should be closed and documents saved
- Click http://dell.to/PoTbpn to download the latest system BIOS
- Click on “Download File”
- Save the BIOS on your desktop
- Right click on it and select “Run as administrator”
- Follow the prompts on screen to install BIOS (System may produce beep sounds and may restart)
- Put the laptop in sleep mode and re-check results
2. Update Video card drivers
If the issue persists, try updating the video drivers. This laptop is built with a variety of video cards (ATI, NVIDIA, Intel). Please install the applicable device driver from 'drivers and downloads' section for your laptop in Dell Support website. You may find the following steps useful:
- Click http://dell.to/Qnizfs to access the 'Drivers and Download' section
- Enter the system's 'Service Tag' in the blank field
- Select the operating system installed in the laptop (from the drop down)
- Locate 'Video Category' in the list of 'Drivers' and Expand it
- Locate the appropriate 'Video Card' driver from the list and install it
If you want information on the 'video card' installed in the system, please check 'device manager'; you may find the following steps useful:
- Click 'Start' and click 'devmgmt.msc' (without quotations) in 'Search programs and files'
- Click < Enter >
- Locate 'Display Adapter' and Expand the category
- You will find the video card name mentioned there (Use this information to locate the video card driver on 'Driver and Downloads' on Dell support website)

Forgive me if this is a silly question;I did run the Dell update program multiple times and it says I'm up to date, so I can concider the update tip done?
You refer to a bios of Inspiron 5423 wheras i have a 5505, so i assume the bios link is a mistake.
I read elsewhere something about the deepness of the state of sleep. Ie suggestions to change it from S3 to S1 (or S2), could this perhaps also be a remedy?
Also Dell update app yields me a xml with the following version numbers, which i manually checked in the driver database for my inspiron 5505. They all apear to be te most recent at the time of writing;
ComponentTypeDisplayVersion
any ideas what is causing the laptop to crash in sleep and reboot without any wifi capability?
