Do new Dell laptops still have a cursor that randomly changes position?
I have a Dell Precsision M4800 and it is time for a new laptop. I work in both Solidworks and Photoshop so I need something powerful. I would like to get another Dell, but not if the cursor randomly changes position when typing. This is a problem I have fought for several years with my computer. I have done updates several times, adjusted sensitivity, etc. Sometimes the fixes work, but eventually it goes back to ruining everything I type.
Can somebody (that doesn't work for Dell) verify that this is no longer a problem with the newer equipment please?

MIne does not do this.
It sound like your trackpad is not disconnecting when you use a mouse? and you moving your mouse with your trackpad?

I have a mouse plugged in. Im not touching my trackpad or the little joystick button in the middle of the keys. My fingers do not rest on the trackpad. Yet occasionally I will type and it all of a sudden jumps to the middle of a line somewhere else on the page as I am typing.

But are they the trackpad the Track button turned off while you have the mouse connected? Verify that. I am familiar with your issue and most times the cause is the trackpad not being disconnected when the mouse is connected. I have the same issue on my Dell for me I had to reinstall an Intel IO driver that allowed windows to recognize it as a precision trackpad. Then I could turn the trackpad off when the mouse is connected. You need to sort this out as I'm not sure how your notebook is set up. My Asus G752VY has its own trackpad software where I turn off the trackpad when the mouse is connected.
So even if your track button is defective and just the vibrations of typing is causing the jump, it can't if it's turned off!
