F6 and F7 keys not working

Question

A couple of days ago i noticed that my F6 and F7 keys (the ones that adjust brightness) aren't working anymore. I can adjust the brightness of my screen in the windows settings, but i can't do it by pressing the keys. I have seen people saying i should disable the adaptive brightness option, but i don't have that option in my laptop so that solution doesn't work for me. Thanks.

I am also not able to get the F6 and F7 keys to dim/brighten the screen. It doesn't matter if I hit the Fn key or not. It doesn't matter if I enable Function lock (Esc + Fn) or disable it. All the other multimedia keys work (volume, mute, keyboard backlight, display settings).

I don't think my model has adaptive brightness though it has a nightlight setting (doesn't seem to matter if I turn that on or off, the brightness level stays the same.

This is driving me crazy because I need to be able to quickly adjust these settings. Anyone figure anything out? I have an Inspiron 14 5000.

Same for me, Latitude 7400, no control of brightness at all.  Mobility centres has no effect, f6 f7 either.  No slider in notification menu.  No suggestions work, reinstalled Intel graphics and command centre, HID events driver.  No change.  Any suggestions from Dell?

I figured it out!

1.Make sure you're in an administrator account

2. Go to Device Manager (type it into your search bar)

3. Find Display Adaptors

4. Right Click on "Intel Iris Xe Graphics"

5. Click Uninstall

6. Restart your computer

Other option if the other one doesn't work: 1. Shut down computer 2. hold f2 while booting up 3. go to display 4. move slider controls 5. UNCHECK the 'custom settings' box 6. save / apply changes

Hi mine G15 Ryzen edition had the same problem but I solved it.

Shot down your PC then simply hold F2 when you start up to enter the safety mode.

Go to Advance settings, then change your function key to the other setting, doesnt matter what it is.

Save and exit and try if your F6/F7 works (maybe you will need to hold down the Fn key)

If it works, shut down and enter safety mode again, change the function key back to what it was.

save and exit and now it should works in the same way you used it before.

Thanks, I had the same problem, and uninstalling the graphics driver and restarting my computer works!
