I have exactly the same problem with Inspiron 13 5378 Windows 64-bit Home 21H2 19044.1889. Screenshots of Device Manager and PCI Device Properties attached.

I've done 3 full system resets in the last 4 weeks with a fresh up-to-date installation of Windows each time to try to eliminate various device and software issues (Hello Face stops working, Audio switch does not detect headphones/headset plug in, Explorer latency with OneDrive and other could storage).  Not one of the resets has left me with a fully configured and operational machine

Currently I'm left with this PCI Device error and the IR camera keeps switching off so Face Hello won't work, despite reinstalling after every fail!

Any suggestions would be greatly received!!

Thanks

I have the same issue. I wonder if a recent critical update from DELL caused the issue?

Yep same , here .. XPS 9500.  Have had it before, then sometime later it 'magically' disapeared - now returned again. I can't figure it out - all working except for ongoing problem where if I shutdown my laptop, then restart, battery depletes to zero even though plugged into power. Once reached zero, will charge up -  thsi may not be related, but noting it in case anyone has simialr problem. Also, no longer get Windows Hello option but that is probably a Windows thing.

I have an Alienware Area 51-m (I know, I know, not the same PC) I did a VBIOS update and the next day my screen started messing up. After a day and a half of messing with it, I found that if I install the drivers for my 2080 right from Nvidia, it fixes everything but only for about 3 minutes. Then it goes back to messed up. If I disable the integrated card, it stays working until I enable it, then back to being messed up. I ran a test and I get this error on my PCI and Video card.

Did anyone find an actual solution to this problem? I have a Dell XPS 8930 machine with NVIDIA GTX 1080 graphics card. I got PCI errors a few months back and somehow after updating BIOS & windows they corrected themselves. I've just wasted 2 weeks trying to upload a large document before it dawned on me that the problem could be my machine. I'm only getting .3Mbps upload speeds and Dell Support Assist gives me the PCI Status Test D0702 error. A laptop plugged into my cable gets our full upload speed.  I've run preboot diagnostics and no error. So this is software related. Any suggestions?

Hi all,

Resolve SupportAssist PCI and USB issues by downloading the latest version of SupportAssist available for your system.

Well, that's what I did today 3/4/2024 and used the SupportAssist App which gave me the error.   Huh!  Oh well.

I have an Inspiron 7706 2n1.  I just noticed for the first time today that I got this message, too.  Looking back at the history page, sometimes these failed and sometimes passed.  Seems no real rhyme or reason.  In fact, on 1 day they passed at 8:05am and then failed at 5:10pm.  Go figure.

I found the issue was due to installing the AMD recommended driver after a reinstall.  When i installed the AMD local driver, which i assume is the OEM driver, the issue was resolved.

Same, same... but different! 😉

Since a installed on my XPS 9570 machine Windows 10 Pro again, I have the same issue after the hardware scan with SupportAssist is completed. The message displays the following warnings:

@TruNewMan I had similar issues and checked with AI. It says:

The Dell error code USB Status Tests: DW-28 appears to be part of Dell's SupportAssist diagnostic suite, but it's not a standard error code with a publicly documented meaning. Based on similar cases like DW-43 and D0605, these codes are often informational notations rather than true hardware faults.

Here’s what this likely means:

🧩 Possible Interpretation of DW-28

  • "DW" codes in Dell diagnostics are often analytical flags, not actual error codes.
  • They may indicate a driver inconsistency, registry anomaly, or non-standard configuration that doesn't necessarily affect functionality.
  • These codes frequently appear after Windows updates or driver changes, and Dell has acknowledged that many such flags are harmless and may be removed in future SupportAssist versions.

🛠️ What You Can Do

  • Run an ePSA diagnostic from BIOS (press F12 at boot and select Diagnostics). This test is more reliable for detecting actual hardware issues.
  • Check USB functionality manually: Plug in various USB devices and confirm they work.
  • Update USB drivers via Dell’s support site or Device Manager.
  • Disable USB selective suspend in Power Options, which can help resolve intermittent USB issues.

If your USB ports and devices are functioning normally, it's likely safe to ignore the DW-28 notation.
