Firmware update has broken USB type C on 7580

Question

I have just accepted the firmware update from the dell assistant program, only to find that it has broken my USB type C port. The port does not power a usb stick or anything at present.

When trying to re-run the firmware update (I have tried down grading with issues also!) the firmware passes everything except Main USB PD Controller 0 which fails on the firmware update.

In windows (V10) the UCM-UCSI ACPI Device shows a warning with error code 43.

Has anyone found a way to actually sucessfuly flash the firmware after this failure? Or even downgrade without failures (I think its the Intel ME update and USB that fails trying to go back a version).

Also when running the firmware the Main System TI Port Controll 0 has no current version (presumably because of the failure).

Ah... this was a bit of a non-starter...

sadly dell it appears after releasing code which breaks a computer have little interest in helping fix the issue if your not going to pay them for it.. *sigh*

I'll stick to the social media platforms in hope of a resolution, and to stand as a warning for others..

open the backlid, remove the cmos battery on motherboard, wait for few minutes and put it back, ur bios will be reset and the type c port will back to work , did that everytime my type c dead, and it definitely work

Yea, sadly this wasn't the case for mine.. still nothing from it.
When the firmware update program is run again now it show's no current firmware for the PD controller and fails to update it.

Pretty poor that dell updates kill their machines and they expect the customers to pick up the bill for it. I'll be sticking with IBM in future..

did you get anywhere with this ?  My USB PD controller 2  fails bios with version numbers missing from the bios utility xps15 9500 too
