G5 15 5500 Alienware Command Center problems
Hey everyone, Three weeks ago I bought a Dell G5 15 5500 laptop ( 10th gen i7, rtx2060, 512ssd) in the Netherlands. Unfortunately after a week the alienware command centre (ACC) decided to keep loading indefinitely and no online fixes were available except for reinstalling the ACC. Low and behold reinstalling, following the steps by Dell online support, caused an error and it did not work.
After calling Dell they told me to just reinstall windows completely. Okay, once that's fine by me. So I reinstalled and after tinkering around a bit somehow after the first error messages I was able to install the ACC correctly. Yeah....But... now two weeks later it is happening again and I do not want to keep reinstalling my entire computer every month.
Does anyone have any tips, fixes, workarounds? Without the ACC I can not control the light bar in the laptop or control the performance of the laptop.
Thank you already for thinking with me!
Edit:
- Reinstalling did not work
- Installing older versions did not work

I was able to fix it by installing alienware command center via the microsoft store instead of the driver download by dell support. Next tot that I turned off Nvidia geforce experience's game overlay function. Somehow, and I do not know why, ACC installed diferently then before. Hope someone could use this information some day.
Need further assistance? Use the Get Help Now option at the bottom right to chat with a Dell technician right away.

I have faced the same issue 2 weeks ago. You do not need to reinstall windows. I really dont remember it but lets give it a shot
Are you using rivatuner or something like that for the temps? As far as I remember it was because of a program I installed for measuring the temps. I uninstalled the rivatuner and it came back to normal (I dont remember if I reinstalled the command center again).
I think you already saw the regarding topics but here they are if you havent:

For the rive tuner (i didnt see this before)

Hey emreonur,
Thank you for taking the time to reply! I have not installed anything yet which should monitor the performance of the computer. No RivaTuner, but I do have Nvidia geforce experience installed. However, I would expect this not to cause any programs and as I understand it it only tweaks settings for games, nothing else.
I found some other solutions and posts, but not the one you are suggesting. So I will uninstall the .net framework and follow the steps. A different solution was also presented to my by private message by dell-cares:
Example: iCUE Software | Drivers | Software | CORSAIR
I will be testing this after the solution you mentioned.

I hope those will work.
Just a hint, think about programs that you have installed lately. I am guessing mine was due to Msi Afterburner, as it just went to normal after i reinstalled it.

Do you have any tips on reinstalling .Net Framework? In windows 10 apparently it is not straightforward to do so.
Unfortunately I have not installed any special apllications or whatsoever except for some games since last time it worked so I do not think that is the case.
Maybe reinstalling windows, and just windows, while keeping all programs and personal files would maybe do the trick?

Hey Sumeethk,
I Souls first the to check of you have nvidia geforce experience and if that is the problem, like I mentioned in my previous post. The Microsoft link sent to me by support is this one: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/alienware-command-center/9pmhp03nj9qp?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Hi,
I am having the same issue and my laptop is the same model just 1 month old.
Where did you find the Alienware Command Centre in Microsoft Store? Because I am not able to find it.
Thank you

Yes thats it. These are the steps which worked for me in the end:
1. Completely uninstall ACC and OC control using the video in this link ( not the steps, but the video)https://www.dell.com/support/article/nl-nl/sln303405/alienware-command-center-verwijderen-en-opnieuw-installeren?lang=nl
2. Make sure Nvidia overlay is off (Do you have any other programs which have a similar kind of function?)
3. Restart computer
4. Install ACC using this link to the microsoft store: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/alienware-command-center/9pmhp03nj9qp?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
5. Start ACC, in my case it automatically added the other components and downloaded them. (Maybe a restart of the computer could help).
Could you write down a list of things you already tried? Would love to help as it take my hours to solve it for my laptop.

oh by the way. Give the computer a minute or two to start-up properly. I do not know why, but ACC refused to work properly untill I waited for the computer to be proberly booted and "finish" it's start up tasks. Only after that it showed all functions. So I would recommend following my steps I listed in the post of a minute a go and then after installation and all, restart and wait 5 minutes before opening ACC again.

Hi
Thank you for your steps.
I followed all your steps but still didn't work I waited for 5 minutes and still the same. I checked on Nvidia and game overlay option it was disabled by default so I didn't had to do much there. I'm really annoyed with this and Dell solution is to re-install windows which I believe I don't have any other choice to do that.
Thank you anyway for you help and support I'm glad for you it worked.

That's too bad. Another option could be to uninstall ACC and OC control and install an older version of the ACC via the Dell support site?
Did the problem arise immediately or after some time? And if so, what were the last changes made to the PC before the problem?

I believe this problem came after updating either Realtek sound system or the new driver of NVidia or either some errors in the Windows update 2004 version, I'm not 100% sure what it could be.
Anyways I reset the windows from the factory settings which it put me back to the previous version of Windows 1909 even though I selected to update the latest version of Windows so that is very strange but I can say the Alienware Command Centre is working and got the RGB light back.
Now running the Support Assist of Dell it asked to me to install the latest update of these programmes, I am uploading this screenshot here to see if after updating it it stops working again.
After I left the updates to get installed while I fell asleep, something happened and a blue screen appeared which it didn't allow me to boot the Windows it just an error occurred and windows couldn't not repair it in which eventually I had to do the factory reset again. Not very happy with this as this shouldn't be happening on a 2 months old laptop.
Anyways I'm updating it again the same list and hopefully this time should work. I'm copying it to one of the Dell technician as he is following with me as well.

I tried this but couldn't install AWCC from the Microsoft Store. I click the "Install" button from the Microsoft Store, but it appears to do nothing...
Anyone ideas?

Dear Enjinea,
Did you use the link I posted in this thread? Do you have the same laptop model? Did you succesfully and completely uninstall ACC and controls? Did you try restarting you computer?
