G5 SE 5505, AMD FreeSync not working

Hi everyone, I had trouble getting FreeSync to work on my G5 SE with 144Hz display. Even with Dell's latest graphics driver updated with Dell's Support Assistant program, and the latest Windows updates, FreeSync showed up as "not supported" even though AMD settings and Windows showed my display was a 144Hz display. I tried the RX 5600m drivers on AMD's website that was specifically for the Dell G5 SE but they still did not work.

Later try another method

I used AMD Cleanup Utility first

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

Then installed this driver, selecting the factory reset in additional option.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-dell-g5-15-se

Then updated to latest driver with Radeon utility. But FreeSync showed up as "not supported". What do I need to do to make it work?

Hello,

It looks like your hardware does support freesync but only external so you need an external freesync monitor if you want to use it see Which Laptops support AMD FreeSync™ technology?

And it is strange that this model is not in the list of those that support Freesync, because the Dell company itself stated that this series of laptops supports Freesync. I think it's a problem with the drivers, because it works for some on the old version of the drivers, but not on the new one, at least they wrote about it on the reddit website. May have to wait for new drivers from Dell for my laptop model.

hi, no, still can't get freesync to work. I have an opinion that the driver for the screen and not the video card may be the problem. If you go to the device manager and look at the driver for the screen, it is from 2006, and I could not find a newer version. AMD software adrenalin sees the screen as: DDC display- EDP. I haven't found a solution yet, although someone on the Internet has everything working on this laptop model.
