G7 - 7588 - HDMI Extended Display not working

Hello guys,

I´m having a problem using extended display.

When I try to extend display I get image only in the built in dispay but my TV screen stays black with "no signal" message.

If I use duplicate display or second disply only it works fine.

I believe what is happening is that Intel GPU controls the buil in display and NVIDIA the second display.

When I extend display Intel GPU does not recognize the second display so I get a black screen.

The odd is that if I go to Nvidia control panel it sees my TV but it don´t show any image.

Have anyone else had this problem?

i tried installing the drives again but it didn´t work.

Thank you.

@CEBKUNI figered it out what was going with my PC. Somehow when I extended my display, the PC would think my second display was 3840 x 2160 (4K display), as my AVR is only 1920x1080p the screen would not show any image. To fix that I went under: windows key > settings > system > display > advanced display settings > display adapter properties for Display 2 Here you pick the ADAPTER tap > list all modes > pick the mode that matches your TV/Screen/AVR etc...in my case 1920 by 1080, true Color (32 bit), 60 hertz. That fixed for me. Eventually Windows changes over again to 4K and I have to do the steps above againg, but once you have learned it is not so complicated. Hope it helps you.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your reply.

It was working before with exactly the same setup and just stopped for no apparently reason.

I could fix it yesterday by Refreshing the PC to factory conditions. Now it is back to normal.

However, what is bothering me now is that when I try to update the video drivers with "official drivers" from DELL website UHD 630 and Nvidia, I get a message "THE DRIVER BEING INSTALLED IS NOT VALIDATED FOR THIS COMPUTER. PLEASE OBTAIN APPROPRIETE DRIVER FROM THE COMPUTER MANUFACTURER".

My PC service TAG is .

I´m affraid of getting the drivers straight from Intel and Nvidia.

Can you help?

BR,

JV

Hi jvtrigo,

Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Unfortunately video issues can sometimes difficult to diagnose:

What model TV are you using?  What types of inputs does it have?  Are you using the correct TV input to match the output of the computer?  You may also find you need to toggle a setting somewhere in the TV’s settings menu to enable it.

What cable are you using?  Did you connect the cable to the TV prior to connecting it to the computer?  Are you using an HDMI cable?  DVI? Mini display port? VGA? S-Video?  Thunderbolt?

As of the HDMI 1.4 specification, the following cable types are defined for HDMI in general:
  • Standard HDMI Cable – up to 1080i and 720p.
  • Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet.
  • Standard Automotive HDMI Cable.
  • High Speed HDMI Cable – 1080p, 4K 30 Hz, 3D and deep color.
  • High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet.

What settings are you using on the computer?  What settings are you using on the Television?

The resolution on the second screen to be at least 1100 x 650, depending on what options you have. Customers have reported very good luck with 1184 x 666.

If you need additional assistance, please contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information and your computer's service tag number. Thanks.

Hi, I have the same issue, I thought it was only in my current monitor. I'm a school teacher and I've tested almost 5 TVs with HDMI and didn't work. Only Black screen... The system knows that I can duplicate or extend display but cannot detect any other display connected. I don't know if we have the same model but the one I bought is G7 with Gtx1060 Q-max. I wish this only requires a system update.
