Genuine or Fake Batteries
Hello All... I purchased some Dell batteries from an eBay seller (I know... possibly risky) and am wondering if they are genuine Dell batteries or not. I have attached pictures of the two batteries.
What has me wondering is...
1.) One of the batteries has no PPID. The other has a PPID but the questions now have me wondering if both are legitimate Dell batteries.
2.) Both batteries are behaving oddly. One (the one without a PPID) gets to 995 and says charging, but it never finishes charging and has sat there for several hours. The other battery, the one WITH a PPID, is charging VERY slowly, as in about one percent per hour. The systems these were placed in exhibited no such behaviors. The only issue was battery life had deteriorated to about 2 or so hours.
So...What is the official word? Are both real? Both fake? Or is one real and one fake?

Unfortunately, I cannot verify if the batteries are genuine Dell batteries. I also cannot look up a ppid number. I can only go by the part number. I looked up the N5050 battery part number and it did not show the one you have listed. You can call the Dell Spare Parts Department at 1-877-717-3355 for verification.

Thanksfor that. On the N5050 battery without a PPID... Are there genuine Dell batteries without a PPID? I was kind of thinking the lack of such made it non genuine...

What you've posted is either a third-party battery -- or a casing where someone's replaced the cells. The date code on it means the battery was -- if original Dell -- made in 2004.
