Home and end keys not working as normal

Question

Dell Inspiron 7706 2n1: With all keyboards I've ever used pressing the home key takes you to the beginning of the line and pressing the end key takes you to the end of the line. On this keyboard pressing the home key toggles my application to full screen and back. Pressing the end key opens and closes the developer tools when I'm on a web page and opens the Save As window when I'm in an Office document. It's driving me batty when I'm typing along and a save window or developer tools opens instead of taking me to the end of a line. Who ever thought that developer tools should be a primary function and the end key secondary? How do I "repair" this problem?

PS: Using the function key + the end key makes it go to the end of the line. My hands and brain don't work with doing it that way after decades of only needing to hit the key itself.

Same here - after much trouble, searching and guesswork - it's the keyboard locked to the F1 to F12 keys instead of the big icons on those buttons. You can toggle between the Funtion keys as default or the large icons on the buttons with the 'Fn lock' toggle. ON my keyboard it's a little padlock icon on the ESC button: Hit 'Fn - ESC' and it will toggle and the home and end keys will work. It will also set all the F1-F12 keys to need 'Fn - F11' for example to execute the F11 key. This alos fixes print screen on my keyboard. I realize I'v had this problem on other keyboards but since those keyboards had thierr own home & end keys the problem eluded me prior.
