Inspiron 15 7559 - SSD Size (Physical)
Hi,
My HDD just died on me so I'm looking to upgrade to an SSD. I've had a look at a few threads on here and I'm really confused by what is being suggested. For example there are plenty of people suggesting that the Samsung 850 is the way to go for this laptop. However, that looks nothing like the HDD in my PC already, size wise. Whereas the Crucial MX500 on the other hand, looks much more like it size wise.
I understand that SSDs aren't going to be identical as they're a different thing to a HDD but I don't want to buy something that isn't compatible. Am I missing something? Is the Samsung one just the actual SSD without casing? Does the Crucial look the same inside the plastic outside?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

I have an Inspiron 15, 5577 model (gaming). It comes with an M.2 SSD but has space for either a laptop hard drive or full size SSD. I have a Samsung 850 EVO installed in that space and it fits without any extra hardware. I've got other "full size" SSD's from Samsung (850 and 860) Intel and other vendors and they are all the same physical size.

Welcome to the Dell Community @BoddlerP
The Samsung is an M.2 SSD
The Crucial is a SATA SSD.
You should be able to have both or if you want just replace the SATA drive that died???
