Inspiron 15 7567 speakers problem
Hi,
Since I don't know when, the left speaker or the subwoofer (I don't know which one as both of them are on the left side of the laptop) makes a loud 'pop' noise before turning back to normal every time the laptop starts to play any sound or resumed playing after being silent for half a minute or even less.
I tried to reinstall the drivers and still the same.
Can someone help me?
Thanks
Also, here are my laptop's specs if it helps:
i7 7700hq - gtx1050 ti - 16gb ram - 256gb micron 1100 ssd - 1tb hdd

@Jim Coates, as far as I know, the drivers are good for Win 10, whatever version. You might see updates after a new build or specific update. There have been changes in the last few months like the popup turnoff and the Headset Microphone selection. My system is using normal drivers without problems. I feel one of the big problems is new drivers being influenced by prior installs. Installers for the current drivers may give you the option to remove previous drivers.
We should know for sure in about 8 days ;)

@Jim Coates I just did what you said but the native driver of windows 10 doesnt recognize the subwoofer. Also, where can I find older versions of the Realtek driver? In the driver's page (http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=8WWJK) there's ''other versions'', but none of them is compatible with the 7567.

You might start keeping Task Manager open and check the processor utilization and speed. See if you can find any correlation between the pops and its performance.
I tried to install Smartbyte using the Dell download but was told I already had a newer version. To my surprise, I did not know that, even though I do have a Killer Wireless card installed where as the 7567s come with an Intel card.
Another difference my system has is a Samsung 960 EVO drive running in the PCIe mode. The 7567s ship with a NVMe drive configured to work as SATA.
My machine also has never had any unexpected shutdowns.
I am using the 8142 driver from the Dell site. If I run my Subwoofer up to full levels, it shakes the bottom of the unit. I do have my bass turned up in preferences.

" older versions of the Realtek driver? "
All of the drivers that Dell has released for the Inspiron 7567 are here.
I would install the oldest Realtek (6.0.1.7962) on top of the native driver, then the 7989 on top of the 7962, etc. Easiest to go old to new rather than new to old. Windows Update should be off.

I had a problem where I would get audio static as a regular beat about once every 1.5 seconds. This problem would only happen after the computer had woken from sleep. After reinstalling all drivers to no avail I decided to check the running services. I had audio running in the background as I stopped services until the audio bug stopped. It stopped when I stopped the SmartByte service. After uninstall of SmartByte and restart I can no longer replicate the issue. Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming, Windows 10.

I have suffered from the pop noise for months. It got even worse after the latest windows update.
Now I have reinstalled the native driver (6.0.1.7962) and the pop noise is gone!
Thx to Jim!

Yes, the same model
The subwoofer had frequent "pop" noise when I played music using the latest Realtek driver

I tried with every driver, but unfortunately the problem is still there.

@DavidD234Have you tried modifying the regedit?
https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General/Speakers-popping-on-Inspiron-15-7567/td-p/5155483/page/2
1. Press Win key + R --> regedit
2.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000\PowerSettings
(Check other sub-folders. Mine was found under 0007 not 0000)
By default,
ConservationIdleTime is 03 00 00 00
PerformanceIdleTime is 03 00 00 00
IdlePowerState is 03 00 00 00
Modify this three keys to
ConservationIdleTime 1e 00 00 00
PerformanceIdleTime 00 00 00 00
IdlePowerState is 03 00 00 00

I had this issue and tried everything for two days straight. Try putting your laptop into aeroplane mode and see if the speakers work fine then.
Solution for me:
- Uninstall all SmartByte software
- Update Intel Graphics Driver
- Update Wireless + WiFi Drivers
- Update Bluetooth Drivers
No issues since.
Let me know how you get on,
Lewis

I just tried modifying the registry but it didn't work either. :/
All the other drivers are up to date and I uninstalled Smartbyte since day one.
