Inspiron 15-7579, compatible AC adapter
Hello, just wanted to see if anyone knows which AC adapter is compatible with the Inspiron 15-7579 laptop? I seem to be having trouble finding an OEM one. Are aftermarket ones compatible? Is there anything in particular I should look for. Thanks

@xyzmarlon If you already have an AC adapter in front of you, check its wattage rating. For an Inspiron 15 7000 Series system, it will probably be 130W. The Inspiron 7579 has Dell's "slim barrel" connector, which is 4.5 mm rather than the more common 7.4 mm barrel they used for a long time. Once you confirm the wattage, then you just need to find a genuine Dell power adapter with the 4.5 mm barrel and at least the wattage required for your system. Higher wattage is fine and will not damage your system at all, although it likely be bulkier and more expensive. Third-party adapters will be hit or miss, and I don't recommend them for "conventional" AC adapters. With USB-C power sources on systems that can be charged over USB-C, it's perfectly fine since in that case there's an industry standard called USB PD, but that isn't available on vendor-specific power connectors like your system uses.

thanks! Unfortunately the problem turned out to be a faulty battery. The laptop also has a bad ssd. I guess I just got unlucky and got a bad unit.
