Inspiron 15 laptop will not boot
My laptop was functioning perfectly fine an hour ago and hit a small snag with the task bar and made all my shortcuts disappear. So I simply turned it off manually since whenever my short cuts disappear I cannot reboot regularly since I’m unable to acess the the shut down and restart prompts. But after I turned my laptop back on it simply loaded up a black screen where I can only move my mouse. None of the buttons except for the on/off do anything and I’ve been trying to find a solution for the better half of two hours now and I’m becoming very frustrated.

I can't tell what you did exactly except that you may have hosed your hard drive by doing whatever it is that you did.
Reboot. F12. Run Dell Diagnostics.

Sounds like you broke your laptop by your prior actions.

Thank you for your message. I will be glad to look into this for you. I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.
Please let me know the findings. Also, let us know if you see the Dell logo during system startup? Please run hardware diagnostics using an external USB keyboard connected to the system.
In addition, for my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (DCFAdmin) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.
What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?
