Inspiron 15z Touchscreen and password problem
I have an Inspiron 15z. It’s started erratically sensing either touch screen or mousepad input, so badly I can’t even input my password at start up. The pattern on the screen looks almost like raindrops falling on water. Any ideas?

I’ve isolated the problem to the touch screen. The cursor behaves with the mouse. If I place my hand on the screen, the jumping largely stops, and restarts as soon as I lift my hand.

Sounds like a hardware problem.
Try an external keyboard. If you not successful, your laptop is toast.

I can’t log into the laptop to run diagnostics. I can’t enter my password. The cursor isn’t stable and the background of the password box stays dark.
