Inspiron 3542 Shuts down by its self

Hello,

I have a dell inspiron 3542 running windows 10, it turns on just fine and stays on for around 20 to 30 minutes then it shuts down by its self with no errors.

I cleaned the laptop from the inside (fans) removed all the dust and the problem still persists.

Its not overheating as i checked the temperatures right before it shuts down and everything was bellow 40c.

I ran a hardware diagnostic with no errors and everything seemed fine, i tried another hdd and nothing changed.

I tried with the battery on and off with just the charger but same problem

i'm running A12 bios version from 2016 i tried upgrading to A13 and A14 but i couldn't because nothing happens the installation starts then the pc reboots and the bios version is still the same, i tried installing it from the os and from a bootable dos flash with Intel Virtualization Technology enabled and disabled.

adoma25,

It sounds like the power management settings are set to turn the computer off after 25 minutes. Follow the steps below to change the power management settings.

Go to Start- Settings- System- Power & Sleep. From here you can change the settings the have the computer to never sleep or whichever meets your criteria. Next, click Additional Power Settings at the bottom. Select the options on the left hand column and choose the criteria on the right side that meets your needs. Do this for each option on the left hand column.
