Inspiron 5493 won't boot

Question

Hi,

I installed Windows from scratch and removed the original recovery partitions - I know, stupid...
For some reason, I had several crashes that led to the SupportAssist to report that the machine is broken and insist on it, so I tried to reinstall Windows, but only got to the point where I removed all partitions.

Now, I have empty disk, so I tried to boot from the Windows installation USB drive, or from a Dell recovery USB drive - but I can't boot anymore.

I can access the USB drive from the BIOS, but when I try to boot it fails.

I did verify that this USB drive is booting on different computer, and tried both NTFS and FAT32.

Any proposals?

The only thing I can suggest is zeroing out the hard drive and try reinstalling Windows again.

Was your Dell Recovery USB created with the Windows Recovery Drive option? Did you try installing the Dell OS Recovery Tool application on another computer and create a recovery USB that way?

I created the Dell Recovery USB using the Dell OS Recovery Tool application on another computer.

I agree that I should zero out the drive, I just can't boot from any device... I get a strong beep every time I try.

Perform a hard reset

Power off your Dell PC
Disconnect the AC adapter or power cord, and remove the battery (for Dell laptop PCs).
Disconnect all external devices or peripherals like USB drives, printer cables, and media cards (SD/xD).
Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
Connect the AC adapter or power cord and the battery (for Dell laptop PCs).

The battery is not external to this laptop, so I guess I need to open it in order to try it - any way to do it without opening it?

I tried to empty the battery, but that didn't do the work.
