Inspiron 5570, M.2 slot type?
I bought this laptop a few days ago, and now I want to add some ssd drive on its m.2 slot. I want to know what type of SSD is compatible with this M.2 slot?

In order to see the maximum speed, your system must be capable of GT4 operation - Inspiron systems are not. They're GT2 (power saving mode), meaning you'll see about half what the drive is capable of -- which is what you are seeing. So -- you're seeing the best you can do with an Inspiron system.
For GT4 mode, you need a newer XPS (9570), Alienware or Precision system - these will allow GT4 operation.
It's one of the trade-offs for a low cost system.
The following SSD have been tested by Dell on your Inspiron 5570 =
Samsung PM961
Samsung PM981
Western Digital SN520
Toshiba BG3
Toshiba XG5

The system will work with any standard, M.2 2280 drive - either SATA or NVMe.

Hi guys,
But its not enough this information in Dell site, because in my Inspiron 5570 you can see 4 pin in the connector, as the picture below.
All M.2 ssd I see it's 5 pin, it's work in this notebook? Thanks.

The specs posted above clearly mention an NVMe SSD, so yes.

It works fine with Samsung Evo 960 M.2 NVMe ssd.

Can you check if its read/write velocity exceeds that for SATA III ? This matter depends on socket type, ist wiring, and the bios.

Here's my slightly off topic question:
Can I replace the current 1tb SATA3 drive in my 5570 with my existing Samsung EVO SATA3 SSD drive? For clarity, this is not an M.2 drive, but a SATA3 SSD drive.

So does a M.2 NVME work with this laptop then before i buy a M.2 SSD? The ones i am looking at has 5 pins on the SSD drive but the slot on the laptop has 4 is this an issue?

I installed a Samsung 970 EVO 250GB NVMe M.2 in my 5570, no issues. Using it as my boot/system drive, very fast.

How do you use this as just a boot drive exactly?
Does this work with 5 pins and the slot in the laptop has 4 pins?
