Inspiron 5570, speed up performance, more RAM?
Hi,
I would like to get better performance with my Inspiron 5570. I currently have:
8GB HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH DDR4-2400
Samsung SSD PM871b m.2 2280 256GB (the 256 is enough for me, only more speed is needed)
Should I get more 8GB ram of the same or better to replace to faster and bigger option (16 stick or 8GB stick?)?
Would appreciate your advice, if you can point me to specific models it would be a great help.

The two SODIMM slots can each use up to a 16GB memory stick for a total of 32GB.
Dell part 821PJ = 16GB, SODIMM, 2400MHz, 2Gx64, Unbuffered, DDR4, 260 Pin, Dual Rank, 1.2v, Non-Error Correction Code
* 2666MHz ram is not supported

Adding RAM is unlikely to have much noticeable difference unless you're using heavy bandwidth Auto Cad or Video editing programs. or running multiple VM
Adding a 2nd RAM will speed things up some as your RAM can then run at full speed in Dual Channel
for noticeable performance with your computer, I would suggest upgrading to Samsung 970 Evo or Plus or Pro Read speed will be about the same but Write speed will be much quicker the 970 run 3500/3500Gbs even so once your using an SSD the speeds aren't noticed until you actually have use for that much speed. it can be impressive transfering movies between two SSD or any large files small everyday files really aren't noticeable.

The EVO 970 Plus cannot run 3500/3500Gbs on Inspiron 5570... It can only run at 1800MB/s with Power Saving Pcie GT2 (2-lanes - randomly selected by DELL) until DELL allows the Maximum Power Pcie GT4 (4 lanes) via a BIOS update. The latest BIOS 1.2.3 has the GT2 restriction.

Out of curiosity, does the latest BIOS 1.14.0 from May of 2023 still have the GT2 2 lane limitation? Also, if you go to the BIOS and Intel Rapid Storage Technology and Intel Optane Memory and select Disable (if you are not using an Optane drive!), does GT4 become enabled? Optane is known for taking up and limiting 2 lanes. I've seen on other systems that disabling Optane will enable all 4 lanes of traffic.
