Inspiron G3-????, not detecting headset mic

Hi guys, I've got a Dell G3 laptop and have had this problem for quite some time but have finally put my foot down and am putting a lot of effort in to fix this problem now.

My headset mic is not detected on my laptop when I plug my headset in, so it just uses the integrated laptop mic instead of the headset one. Sound still comes through the headset just no microphone.

My laptop has a 2-in-1 jack for audio/mic and that's completely fine, the headset isn't the problem as I have tried it on other devices and the mic completely works as well as the sound.

I'm really lost on what to do so any help would be appreciated.

I will provide any information needed to the best of my ability.
