Issues with Inspiron 7577 - Audio crackling / glitches - Overheating - Frame drops
About two months ago I bought a 1300 euro Dell Inspiron 7577. The first couple of weeks it was working fine, but now there are multiple issues. Hopefully anyone here can tell me what to do about this.
Frame drops
While playing any game I experience framedrops, where it randomly drops from 90+ fps to 15-20 fps for a 3-10 second periods.
Audio glitches / Crackling sound
When watching video's or playing games I can constantly here "crackling" audio. Every few seconds there is a "crackling pop" and sometimes a bit more than a pop. When im on Discord with friends they say that often the built in microphone drops out, and I feel like these moments coincide with the crackling audio.
Also sometimes the audio glitches. It can combine with a drop in frames. It looks and sounds like the computer freezes for a couple of seconds, and then spurts out all the sounds that was supposed to be playing in those previous two seconds all at once. No idea how to describe it, a robotic scream would maybe be it.
Overheating
The laptop gets very hot while playing any game (doesn't have to be a very high end game like the Witcher), especially the metal above the keyboard gets very hot. I can't touch it more than 4-5 seconds without it hurting my fingers. I installed Speedfan to monitor the temperature, and while playing a game it shoots up towards 70 degrees celcius. The laptop is only used on top of a table, with plenty of room around it, so the fans are not obstructed in any way.

I'd love to hear suggestions of what this might be. The laptop is clean, only a couple of games and a few small applications like Discord or VLC on it, that's it. It wasn't a cheap laptop to say the least, so I hope you guys can help me fix up this awesome laptop soon!

Hi, I've bought the same Laptop (7700hq - 16gb RAM - 1060 6gb) and i've the same problem with the audio, this is unbearable for a PC of over 1000€, i don't know how i can fix it, when youtube change video the sound becomes noisy (like white noise) for 1/10 sec, and often audio glitch comes out.
I use it for study and working with earphones but i think that, if this issue continues, i've to send it to Dell.
I tried to follow the suggestion of another topic and i have downloaded the new Realtek audio driver on the official Dell site, this helps me with the glitches (now i've less glitch than before the driver, but they are constantly on the subsound) but now the sound become metallic from the earphones.
Please help us with this problem because i love this Laptop but i cannot use it with this glitch and not clear audio.

What is the version of BIOS installed?
Is the audio glitch heard with a headphone connected?

Now i'm not able to run the diagnostic program on the bios because sometimes the program reproduce a sound (bip) too loud for a place were now i am.
The bios's version is 1.4.2 (the lastest one).
I hope to solve this problem.

Delete all Dell apps. ( Assitant etc) Install LatencyMon and checked your system. It will show which driver causes the sound latency. If it's ethernet & wifi then update them via Intel website. If it's directx just download let's say a new game ( find some free game) and it will update the directx. All other drivers you can see from that program and fix it.

Problem
I have the exact same problem as you have described. I have done all the diagnostics and all of the ones I have tested have come back as passed. (GPU, CPU, memory and hard drives) After I did this I loaded up a game and for 20 mins it was working smoothly. however after that it went back to frame dropping and crackling. I really just want to fix this problem as it was not a cheap laptop. I was wondering if anyone has since found a solution.

I am having the same issues! I would run into multiple blue screens relating to nvddmkm.sys, after getting it back from Dell's support I'm now having other blue screen issues relating to "Kernel security check failure, kmode exception not handled, etc." Thinking about sending it in again since I still have warranty.

How long have you been having this blue screen error? Does the system restart or turn off when you get this error?
Has there been any recent software changes made like installing new game, application or Windows update?

Delete Smartbyte and the audio should clear up.
Intel XTU can give you tools to cool down that processor.

Under Core you can tune down the voltage by 1.0 and see the core package temps drop.

Dear moderator.
Any news about this issue? I got the same problem with the same laptop. It start overheating and after that, the fps drops over a couple of seconds, constantly, this have been happenning more and more since 2 weeks ago.
Any bios update solution or something else?

Same problem: significant frame drops every now and then.
The laptop already heated up quite a bit when I first got it and started playing games, but it did not cause extreme lag. Despite the heating it plowed through. Now however, whenever I play SW Battlefront 2 for a while I just have moments when it's unplayable.

I have the exact same problem.
I have a Dell Inspiron 7577 with the following specs:
Whenever I'm playing a game, the first 20 minutes will go without any problems, but later on, my PC will start showing crackling sounds and FPS dropping. Games that should run perfectly at 60FPS with the Geforce GTX 1060 6GB will indeed run at 60FPS in my computer, with GPU temperature of 78-80°C, and whenever I reach 80°C (Even when GPU usage is under 50%) the FPS will drop to 6/9 FPS for about 10 seconds after going back to the normal 60FPS the game was running at.
Has anybody found a solution for this? I really like this laptop and I didn't buy it to have this kind of issues. The gaming experience gets completely ruined by this problem.
