Ownership Transfer - Domestic Transfer

Hi,

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series Gaming Edition 7567 from a third party company fulfilled by Amazon(I'm in the US and the company is based in the US) and I initiated an ownership transfer (Return To Depot Support) by filing out the online form with all the required details on 2/25/18. It said the transfer process would take up to 7-10 business days. However, until now the warranty status has remained the same(it still sticks to the original warranty when it was ordered by that company in 2017). May I ask if someone know what the issue is?

Thank you for your help in advance!

You'll need to contact Dell to see what they say.  If it was ever registered by anyone after purchase, you will need that individual's contact information in order to begin the warranty transfer.

For that you'll need to contact the seller - only that individual or company can tell you the system's history.  If it turns out to be a system not obtained through Dell-authorized channels (aka "grey market" systems), it may not be possible to transfer the warranty.

Bottom line:  ask the seller;  if you do not get a solid answer, return the system for a refund and buy through an authorized channel.

Thank you for your reply. I just received a response from that Amazon seller saying that it was purchased from Bestbuy.com(online retailer). So, if I previously mistakenly entered the details of the seller in the previous owner details section, could I do the warranty and ownership transfer online again or just contact Dell to address the issue? Which is the best way to deal with this?

Thanks,

Chun Yu
