Pressing 8 shows 0. Replaced keyboard, worked for a few weeks, same issue returned?
Dell 7437: Had issue where pressing 8 shows 0. Replaced keyboard, worked for a few weeks, same issue returned?
Got keyboard debugger which shows the eight is triggering same hex code as 0 i.e. thinks its same key. All drivers up to date. Works fine with external keyboard and on screen keyboard. All other keys working.
In BIOS found eight comes up as "/" not zero though, strange and unsure why?
As already replaced keyboard unsure of other options? As new keyboard comes with new ribbon assume cant be that? Some form of damaged controller chip on motherboard?
As tested in BIOS assume removing any windows driver/keyboard config issues? Safe mode command prompt also just gives 0.
Reluctant to change motherboard as might not solve it and cost maybe better spent on new laptop.
Any suggestions appreciated?
Thanks,
Alex

Right, Ihad this issue before keyboard replacement (https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/7437-Keyboard-issues-after-A13-BIOS-upgrade-Downgrade-fixes/td-p/7254683/jump-to/first-unread-message ) and downgraded BIOS, seemed to work but then issue returned so assumed coincidence hence replaced keyboard.
Just now (i.e. after new keyboard and worked fine but then stopped) downgraded BIOS *again* (A13 to A12), having pretty much given up hope/thinking of getting new laptop, and keyboard immediately started working again!!!
Seems highly unlikely coincidence i.e. whenever downgrade BIOS (or possibly just act of reflashing?) keyboard suddenly starts working again?
