Re-installing Windows 10 on already upgraded computer.
What will happen if I do a clean installation of Windows 10 on my laptop which has already been upgraded from windows 8.1 in 2017?

As long as you activated the upgrade in 2017 by linking your Microsoft Account, you have digital license. (check your activation now before doing anything) Skip the request to enter activation code when asked when you reinstall windows 10. As soon as the install is complete the license with be reactivated as soon as you log into your MS account on the internet. See this- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12440
Use the Create Media Tool to make installation media.

Actually you don't have to link to your Microsoft account. I actually prefer not to.
I never link to my Microsoft account on any of PCs and I can re-install Windows 10 just fine.
