SOLVED: Inspiron 7501 - An operating system exception was caused by system memory. Also - Analog headphones screeching
Every time I rebooted my Inspiron 7501, I got an error that said:
An operating system exception was caused by system memory.
I also found that my analog headphones no longer worked. Instead of audio, I got a loud screeching noise.
I rolled back the BIOS from 1.5.1 to 1.4.1 and both problems resolved.

Hi @JimH_Carmel,
I have a same issues as you, here is a thread:
https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/Inspiron-5401-An-operating-system-exception-was-caused-by-system/m-p/7781389#M106921
Did you have the same symptoms and troubleshooted similarly?

Thank you @JimH_Carmel , hope it will be resolved in future update soon.
Please send me a PM when you have update from Dell, I'm curious what the reply will be.
Have a good one!

@Ajetos Same troubleshooting though slightly different symptoms. I also upgraded my RAM (many months ago) by replacing the factory-installed SODIMM with a 16GB SODIMM. Like yours, my computer worked flawlessly for months until the BIOS upgrade. Downgrading the BIOS immediately resolved the problem. As with yours, everything else about my system (firmware, drivers, OS) are all up-to-date. Only my BIOS has been downgraded to resolve the problem.
I had a protracted exchange with Dell Support about this. They've referred the issue to engineering.

7501 The first set of updates from dell was wreaking havoc resulting in system memory c
scans. I reverted to prior to dell's list of downloads including the bios update (the hard way), and now feel as if I have a new, but not updatable laptop.

Hi all, I think I found the solution! I am using BIOS version 1.9. I went into the BIOS settings, then under the power settings there is a toggle for whether or not you want the laptop to be automatically woken up from sleep or powered on when connected to the USB C Dock. I shut that off and I have not had the problem anymore. Apparently, I had the laptop connected to the USB C Dock which is connected to a power strip. When I would completely shut off the laptop, if I turned on just the power strip this BIOS setting which was set to on would automatically power back on the laptop which was shutoff and closed by just being connected from the power strip. This would cause the laptop to stay in an on mode for numerous hours (I had no idea it was even on just because the power strip was on which has other things I need on connected to it) and was causing the laptop to overheat which then triggered the operating system memory error. Go into the BIOS settings under power settings and turn this setting off. There is still no excuse for Dell having this happen and also them not knowing how to fix it when people call, but this has worked for me and I hope it works for others.
