SSD Options for Inspiron 5570
Hi,
I have an Inspiron 5570 i7 with 2TB HDD.
I would like to add SSD but I'm not that familiar which options are better and compatible for the laptop.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Do you want to replace the existing hard drive with a solid state drive, or add it in addition to the HDD?
Your system supports a 2.5" SATA drive (HDD or SSD) up to 2 TB. It can also support a M.2 NVMe SSD up to 512 GB, which has a much faster transfer speed compared to a SATA drive. If you want the OS and your applications to load quicker and multitask more efficiently, go with a NVMe and use it as your boot drive. You can then continue to keep the SATA HDD, or replace it with a SSD, and use it for additional storage.

Welcome to the Dell Community @trizvicente
Most SSD's will be compatible.
Crucial has a few to choose from.

Hi @Kflash08 I'm actually thinking of adding it in addition to the HDD.
Would any M.2 NVMe SSD work too? I saw this Western Digital WD Green M.2 2280 SSD 6Gb/s which is on the cheaper side hehe
Thanks for the help!!

Thank you @U2CAMEB4ME for the recommendations!
I actually have a WD Green 2.5 /7mm SSD installed on another laptop. So that would work? I'm thinking of removing it and installing it myself to the Dell laptop.
Thanks again!

Any M.2 2280 NVMe drive up to 512 GB should work.
The Western Digital WD Green M.2 2280 SSD should work as well, but it uses a SATA interface, and is limited to 256 GB in size. It will still be faster than the HDD should you use it for your OS, but it won't be as fast as the NVMe's PCIe interface.

@trizvicente
Your system is not limited to 512GB.
Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND M.2 Type 2280 Internal SSD:

This part is 100% compatible with Inspiron 15 (5570)

I'm about to replace the original HD for a SSD. So curious about if it will really solve the problem, because I'm very frustrated with the incredibly bad performance of this computer, bought just two years ago.

Hi!
>It can also support a M.2 NVMe SSD up to 512 GB,
I have Dell Inspiron 15 5570-5419 and really wonder whether I can to add M.2 SSD because this link
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/inspiron-15-(5570)#ssd
shows only 2.5" SSDs as compatible.
How to verify without laptop disassembly that it really has m.2 slot? run CPU-Z?

You need to check for slot, hardware mount, and shield. "Before spending $$$ on something not needed"
If you have Intel Optane then you should have all the hardware???

For anyone contemplating this now, I have just added a Transcend 110s 256gb NVME pcie SSD to the ssd slot in this particular laptop using Macrium cloning software (free edition). The tutorial for this is shown on youtube using the 5570 and the Cloning article is also shown as a separate operation again using the 5570 so is specific to this laptop. I would recommend both articles and the speed increase is well worth the effort (not to mention the added bonus of having a data drive for storage.

castor294, do you have a link or part number to the 1TB drive? I have a 2TB SATA drive that seems to be failing and I have over 512GB of data on it already so a 1TB NVMe PCIe drive would hopefully be my cure or at least get my 3yr old 5570 running much faster than it has been lately.
