Screen blinking / flickering when zooming resizing images.

Hey, my laptop screen does this weird black screen blinking for a second when I use the mouse wheel or touchpad to zoom in and out of an image. This issue only happens directly at the laptop main screen, if I connect the laptop to an external screen the issue does not happen if I open the image or video in the external screen that is connected. 

So far I have tried to reinstall video drivers, both for the internal graphics (Intel HD Graphics 620) and also for the off-board video card (Nvidia 940MX), but the issue persists.
