SupportAssist Diagnostic fails

I have problems on laptop which makes it slow , i  don't know whether it's software or hardware so i tried downloading Support Assist to online diagnose the Hard Drive.

I downloaded the application and ran diagnostic on Hard Drive which hanged on 66% process and sends me message that the test is taking too long then it stopped on its own giving warning on "smart self test" for hard drive.

I tried re-running the test but it gives me the following message "We 're sorry , an error occurred and we could not complete the scan. Please try again"

I also tried Quick test run which made me re-download the support Assist application and gives same error when starting to run the diagnostic test.

Any help?

Thanks in advance

It's time to replace your failed hard drive.  If you need assistance choosing a drive, post the system model number (i.e., Inspiron N5110, 5579, etc.).

You can try uninstalling Support Assist and then reinstall it to fix the “SupportAssist not working” issue. To do this, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the Settings application and open the Apps part.

Step 2: Now, find Dell SupportAssist and uninstall it.

Step 3: Once the uninstall is completed, restart the system and then reinstall the latest version of Dell SupportAssist from the Internet.

Then, check to see if the “Dell SupportAssist not working” error has been fixed.

I think that's right but need to check processor fan because another technician told me it could be the cause of my laptop slow but the diagnostic process failure doesn't help, you know any other solution?

You don't need Support Assist to run the diagnostics.  Press F12 a few times at powerup and you can get to the diagnostics from there.

What you've posted indicates a drive failure - which in turn, if the fan isn't operating correctly can be caused by overheating -- if the fan fails diagnostic, replace it along with the hard drive.
