SupportAssist does not work: which tool should I use to update my drivers please?
Hello.
I use an Inspiron 7520 (Service Tag ) with Windows 10.
For updates of the drivers I installed the tool SupportAssist.
But it did not find any Driver.
Is there any other alternative software from Dell to update all the drivers comfortable?
Thanks.

First of all for your own safety and security do not post a service tag number in the forum.
And if you go to the Dell support page and type in your service tag number you will see a list of drivers that apply to your system. You can easily download and install those drivers manually.

You could download / install Dell Update Application for window 10 from your Dell Product Support Page.
The Dell Update tool will automatically updates critical fixes and important device drivers as they become available.

@JOcean
Thanks for your answer.
Service Tag:
Is that not a general hardware specific feature? Is it the same like a serial number?
If it is not a general feature: Is there any other way to communicate publically about a specific hardware?
SupportAssist:
Of course you can choose and install drivers manually. But that is not the same as to do it with a tool. A tool checks if there are more current drivers, it cares about conflicts etc.
Can anyone confirm, that SupportAssist does not work anymore?
If so: Is there any alternative please?
BIOS:
The list of suggested drivers for "my PC" contains the following file:
https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER06325794M/1/Inspiron7520_Win_A04.exe
It is a wrong information. My BIOS has Version A10.
Are there known problems with the data base for drivers?
Dell Update Application:
The list shows the following Tool.
Do you recommend to use that tool? What can I expect of using ist please? Is that an alternative to SupportAssist?
Thanks for your help.

After installing and starting Dell Update Application 4.1.0 I get the message:
"Die Systembestandsaufnahme kann nicht abgerufen werden"
Translation: The system inventory cannot be retrieved

" For updates of the drivers I installed the tool Support Assist. But it did not find any Driver "
-------------------------------------------------
If I am reading you correctly, Support Assist open, search for drivers then reported None Available? Also, you reinstall windows 10, therefore you need the latest drivers from Dell? The computer is working without any problems?

@pemu
To update your BIOS use one of these two methods. "I use the second"
First method:
Create a new folder on your desktop named “BIOS Update”
Then download your BIOS update from your Driver Support page.
Dell Inspiron 7520 System BIOS:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=xh6pk&oscode=wt64a&productcode=inspiron-15r-se-7520
Copy the update to that folder you just created.
Close all Windows and Apps you may have open.
Go to the folder and right click on the update file and “Run as Administrator”
Second method:
Create a bootable USB drive using “Rufus”
https://rufus.ie/
Copy the BIOS update to the bootable USB drive you just created..
Insert USB drive, power-on and start tapping the “ F12 “ key.
Boot from USB and run the BIOS update.
After reboot test and post any results.
Best regards,
U2

Welcome to the Dell Community @pemu
Is this what your talking about???
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=xh6pk&oscode=wt64a&productcode=inspiron-15r-se-7520
You would think that A4 would be older than A10???
I do not think Dell started all over again with A4!!!
I think it could be a misprint "A14" ???
The last version listed was "A13"???
Best regards,
U2

"If I am reading you correctly, Support Assist open, search for drivers then reported None Available?"
I do not remember if that phrase appeared.
But I remember, that no driver has been installed via SupportAssist.
Is that, what I should expect from SupportAssist?

"Is this what your talking about???"
No, I talk about the screenshot of my first post and about the link behind that, which I mentioned.
I just wanted to give a hint, that there is a wrong entry in the list, which refers to an A4 (please try the link to check that).

Just making sure Support Assist is functioning well or without any problems.
Dell Support Assist Driver Update (Official Dell Tech Support)
https://youtu.be/2YnoKl_IX_0
Support Assist is a good Dell application which will provide latest Dell drivers, downloads and firmware. It will also help troubleshoot problems that might occur on your computer. However, when Support Assist isn't working well, it will give you headaches. Now, you could uninstall / reinstall Support Assist by following steps in link below. This will ensure the computer has the latest version of Support Assist.
SupportAssist for PCs and Tablets Clean Uninstall and Reinstall | Dell US
Keep in mind, Microsoft installed drivers and firmware for the computer though the windows updates, therefore, make sure the computer has latest window updates.
1. Type Settings onto [Cortana] search box
2. Select Update & security, Check For Windows Update

Lastly,
If uninstalling / reinstalling doesn't fix Support Assist, I thing you should take JOcean suggestion by downloading and installing drivers manually. This is what most people (and myself) will do anyway. Keep in mind, you don't have to download / install every single driver or firmware on your Dell Product Support page. Choose the one's that you feel needed for the computer. In the link below, there are brief information on what each driver does.

Thanks for the information and all updates.

The decision if a driver is really neccessary or recommendable or could possibly make problems is one which a "normal user" can't make.
That's the simple reason, why manually downloads of drivers are not a solution.
And, as I pointed out: the given list of drivers "for this pc" has bad entries, which are not correct. In that list, you cannot get the latest firmware, but only an old one. Well, that's may be a simple bug in the data base of the drivers of Dell.
Back to the software which helps to find the best drivers:
