Unable to link devices/scan QR codes for Whatsapp and Signal desktop apps

Hello everyone,

I am using a DELL Inspiron 7306 13.3 2-in-1 ..I downloaded the desktop apps for Whatsapp and Signal. However I am not able to link the laptop to my Android phone for these apps. To link the devices, I have to scan the QR codes that are generated but when I try to, it doesn't work. Similarly, when I try to link my laptop and phone for the web version of Whatsapp, it doesn't scan the QR code. 

I'm able to use the 'Your Phone' app and features just fine but I also want to be able to message directly in Signal and Whatsapp from my laptop.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any fixes? Thanks
