Unfixed Laptop Returned by Dell

Hello,

I have sent my Inspiron 7506 2-in-1 in for repairs as it has had the following issues:
1. Blue screen of death
2. The mouse does not respond correctly
3. Flickering of the screen

As I am a teacher, teaching during a pandemic, I do not have the luxury to send in my computer in at any moment so I waited until spring break.

Here is the disclaimer, I dropped the laptop once 2 weeks before spring break and it sustained minor damage. However, the computer still functioned.

Like I said, I could not send it in for repairs because I need the computer, so I kept working with this computer for 2 weeks and there were no new issues from the drop.

The computer has been with the tech department for weeks now (over a month), and I have received an email that they will be sending it back unfixed because they no longer have the part available for a laptop that I bought less than 6 months ago.

I feel utterly defeated. This is my last resort.

Thanks,

A broke teacher

The warranty was likely voided if there's any evident physical damage to the system (were that not the case, and parts are not available you'd be receiving a replacement system).

You can either look for another repair source or replace the system - your option.

The first thing that was done was an internal check of the system by Dell, before I sent in the computer. The laptop is still under warranty and is less than 6 months old. Dell still sells the laptop that I have purchased.

If Dell doesn't have the parts to do a (presumably out of warranty) repair on the system, I doubt anyone else will either.

Since the first two issues are software, not hardware, a clean install of Windows is in order when the system is returned.  It's debatable whether the third issue is software or hardware - but if the system hasn't been checked internally, that would also be in order.

It may or may not be repairable - but since you've damaged the system, whatever repairs are needed are up to you.  You can attempt the repair, or have a local shop look at it for you.
