Make sure to set the 1TB drive as default storage drive.

What ever you choose to store on the 1TB drive move the folder to the new storage device.

Everyone can suggest where to purchase and what to purchase but the one that would know the best would be you.

Do you want to purchase online and wait for delivery???

Or purchase from a local retailer and not wait for delivery???

Does a local retailer have a better price than someone online???

We can give our opinion on what manufacture we like or have had good experience with.

Myself I like Lite-On or Samsung.

Everyone can have a different opinion but it is what is best for you.

I would like to purchase online but most importantly is buying the correct product than price.

Lite-on is for SSD mostly I think. I have found a seagate hard drive but not Samsung. Do you have any link I can look at.

I think I have to use SATA HDD not hybrid according to system manual. Thanks for the suggestion regarding storage devices.

At the moment I am not too sure if I will use this entire drive for storage purpose only or I can divide 1tb to two 500 GB drives and use one drive for storage and install another OS(linux) in another drive.

Most people would use the 256GB SSD already installed for booting and apps.

Then get a regular HDD for storage.

This way booting will be quick and apps will run at top speeds.

Accessing documents, pictures, videos etc you do not need the speed of an SSD.

But if you can afford it then go with the SSD as your storage drive.

A good drive that meets both requirements is the SSHD.

Faster than a regular HDD but not as expensive as an SSD.

So you would then have the 256GB SSD for booting and the SSHD for storage.

A very good combination.

Yes exactly that was my first thought that if Crucial is wrong or the manual.

If this is true then I am back to the starting point

My first plan was to upgrade the SSD and not to buy any secondary storage device and then I saw it supports till 512 MB.

What do you think? Should I go with 1TB SSD?

Also with a 2nd SSD rather than an HDD, there's less weight and no moving parts, so no vibration.

Actually I didn't know that I can use 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD as second drive. I had only HDD as second drive in mind.

Do I need to buy any extra cable/bracket for this SATA SSD drive.

That drive will work perfectly.

You stated in your first post that "The connector, cable and carrier is already inside."

Both SSD and HDD use the same connector, cable and carrier.

So you should not need anything else except maybe a few screws???

After installing use "Disk Manager" to partition and format the drive.

Just installed 1TB ssd drive successfully. All good so far. It was the screw which did some issue but apart from that it went well.

I was thinking about 2TB but that's expensive for me.

Thank you so much for directing me to have larger volume as I was going to have 512mb.
