battery temporarily disabled error on startup

Inspiron 7746

Inspiron 7746

Hi

I have the Battery temporarily disabled message on the Bios. I have searched the problem here and it seems a lot of people have reported the problem but no solution posted.

for info i have a new genuine Dell battery installed.

Today my laptop wouldn't power on although i know that it had a charge on it yesterday when i shut down. I plugged in the AC adaptor and it took me straight to the Bios where the message next to battery health stated battery temporarily suspended.

on googling this problem i see this is a known issue but i'm unable to find a solution for it. i've read it could be a mother board issue, i hope this is not true as my laptop is out of warranty.

please advise what the solution is if known.

as i said the battery is new so not the problem.

thanks

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter (F2 at powerup to check), or does it show unknown?

Contact the battery seller for a replacement under whatever warranty they provided.

if the battery is not the problem what else could it be?

could a dead CMOS battery cause this problem?

has no one here come across this problem?

I am assuming windows 10 is on the system....

Download and install latest Quickset application onto the system. After, check in the battery app to see if you can enable the third-party battery.

You can also run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following steps in link below. Hopefully this will help enable the battery.
