win11 keeps trying to update drivers
New inspiron 5620, clean install win11. Barely started process, just wifi enabled drivers installed, that's it.
Disabled updates in device installation settings. Also running OOshutup to disable all driver updates.
ONLY trying to update windows.
Once I run winupdate, it KEEPS trying to download drivers for things I do NOT want enabled, nor do I need downloaded- Bios is already flashed to latest, (reluctantly at that, since this problem happened on a prior clean install attempt and I didn't shutdown in time to stop it so I decided to just flash to latest since it cannot be rolled back to factory bios) and winupdate keeps trying to download a previous bios. Also trying to download biometric drivers which are also disabled.
Since neither of those processes stopped things, I ran gpedit.msc and configured the windows update settings to "do not include drivers" when it updates.
All times computer was restarted prior to trying winupdate again.
Still no luck- keeps trying to dl/install all the old firmware and drivers I do not want/need.
Short of a regedit tweak which I am reluctant to do, what am I missing here? This is really frustrating and would really appreciate any insight here. This never happened on prior win10 computers, both which also run ooshutup and were clean installed with win10 when new. Is this a dell issue or a win11 issue, or both? I would be grateful for any help at this point, thanks to anyone in advance.

Hi, thanks for replying. Prior to running wushowshide, I have enabled gpedit.msc local computer>admin templates>windows components>update>enduser>configure automatic updates, and selected option 2- "notify before download and install".
Have also enabled the do not download drivers group policy in the respective path.
Then began to run wushowhide- and despite trying to block them as fast as possible, update STILL downloads and installs 4 drivers at least before I can prevent them (HID, Biometric fingerprint, IO driver, and Display driver).
Again- I have all the drivers downloaded, more up to date than what windows keeps trying to download, ready to go manually. And I never use fingerprint nor do I plan to.
Perhaps its futile to try and stop these short of a regedit, but is there anything else that is missing here? Should I just install my prepared drivers prior to running windows update to prevent the downloads? And is this going to KEEP happening? It has already tried to download an earlier bios version, despite my having flashed mine to the latest. It SEEMS to have stopped doing that in particular automatically, but the display driver was downloaded regardless. And I have run wushowhide a couple times immediately since and it shows update keeps trying to download drivers I have block listed. Actually- worse- it now keeps downloading and installing even more drivers in wushowhide, half of which are out of date. So again- what is going on and how do I stop it?
