You should be able to use this link: http://doc.isilon.com/onefs/7.0.1/help/en-us/index.html

It is the help for OneFS 7.0.1 and it is a public link.

Sundarlal,

Firstly, consider moving this discussion to the proper community for maximum visibility.  This question will likely go unnoticed for a while under your own "Discussions" space.  You can relocate this by selecting "Move discussion" in the upper-right and in this case, the following would be most relevant:

All Places > Support Community > Isilon Support Forum

1) Yes a virtual (storage) appliance does exist and generated with each version of OneFS; however, officially it isn't available to the general public.  However, there are indications of people having a copy outside of EMC as witnessed by the following blog post (written by the venerable Dynamox who is an EMC client and a regular contributor to ECN):

Deploying virtual Isilon on ESXi | Storage Monkey

2) As for an API, yes a Platform API (PAPI) does exist.  For more details, I've included a link that provides the relevant search results for the PDF's that provide more detail (wasn't sure if you have v7.0 or v6.x and by providing search results, the link won't go stale when a new version is released):

https://support.emc.com/search/?resource=DOC_LIB&AlloftheseWrds=platform%20api%20onefs&SearchWithin=true&adv=y

Also, the OneFS User / Adminstration Guide also have examples scattered in the document for many of the various topics/features as they are discussed:

Isilon OneFS User Guide (v6.5 or lower)

Isilon OneFS Administration Guide (v7.0+)

Thanks for your reply Christopher. Regarding the Platform API, I did not get any results for the link you had mentioned. Is the Platform API Interface document available for public download? If so, do you mind sharing the document, if you have one?

Thanks

You can do it on the CLI today with "cp -c". The man page for cp will have more details. I don't think there is currently an API or PAPI way to use the feature. If this is something you want/need for your environment, please let you SE know so they can put in a feature request on your behalf.

Thanks,
