Isilon SyncIQ with HDFS

Isilon brings many brilliant data protection features to Hadoop. One of them is The ability to automatically replicate to a second offsite system for disaster recovery. I'm looking for more detail on how to implement DR for HDFS using SyncIQ. What is the procedure to recover HDFS at DR. HDFS ecosystem has many modules and can we protect those module with syncIQ.

Is there any document about the best practice for using Isilon to protect HDFS. Especially using SyncIQ for HDFS Disaster Recovery.

Thanks,

Jirawut

We have tested synciq with HDFS (HBASE) and recovered HBASE database when replicated with SyncIQ and running HBASE database over HDFS.

No issues in this solution,  your use case or application may be different.  HBASE is a transaction log solution that replays data not in the HDFS DB files.  It can tolerate snapshot data protection solution fine.

Our product has documentation for our production this solution that is not generic HDFS solution.

Superna Eyeglass can failover HDFS data.   It does not failover SPN for HDFS (only matters if you are doing kerberized HDFS access),  same thing with SPN used for web HDFS access.  These are manual steps post failover.

I think you are asking about spark, ambari, hbase region server config etc?  correct?

Andrew
