SyncIQ question - Target writable?

Just wanted to verify something. We would like to use the target cluster as both read/write. For example, would like to replicate to certain directories while still have the capabilities to write to other directories that are not being replicated to. I know that in order to write to the directory that is the target we need to disable the sync job and remove read only . But thats just for the directory and not for the entire cluster right?

Correct.  They can utilize the target cluster in a live manner, just not write to the SyncIQ target directories.
