64 bit sidebar gadgets and 32 bit sidebar compatibility
I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop and have the need to display certain 32 bit gadgets on the sidebar. In 32 bit compatibility mode for the sidebar some of the 64 bit gadgets don't work. Is there a solution for this problem?

The problem is that some of the 64 bit gadgets no longer work when I run like this. For Instance, Norton's Antibirus gadget no longer works. I called them last night and they suggested that I get in touch with Dell.

Use the 32-bit gadget manager
64-bit Windows comes with a 32-bit version of sidebar.exe, the program that manages the gadgets. You can set this one to run on startup instead of the default 64-bit one.
* Right click on the Desktop, go to View, and uncheck "Show desktop gadgets".
* In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar and open sidebar.exe.
* I believe that Windows will then continue to run the 32-bit version automatically even after you log off and log back on.
* If you subsequently hide the desktop gadgets again, you'll have to manually re-launch the 32-bit version.
