7520 Dell MSATA Daughter Board

Before I ordered the laptop I checked with a sales representative over the phone if the laptop would support an MSATA drive in future and was advised it did. Following this I ordered N0015S19 last night. After this I began looking up MSATA drive installation in the 7520 and find posts on the internet suggesting it may be supported depending on the daughterboard, so I contacted the Dell Sales live chat team who again advised me MSATA is compatible however I was not very convinced by them and subsequently spoke to customer services and then technical support who again were both unsure if the MSATA daughterboard is present, with some suggesting to cancel the order and speak to sales, however sales seem to be clueless about my enquiry.

I then got bounced around departments and am currently waiting for a manager to call back.

I am very disappointed with the lack of clarity from Dell.

Is there anyway to check if the board is present?

If it is not present could it be installed before I receive the order?

Or could an engineer install it post receiving the laptop?

I have also spoken to Dell Parts who advise the part N7JHH would cost £43, which is a large amount for something which I was led to believe would be included.

If you did not order the system with the mSATA drive, the daughterboard is not present.

I am in a very similar situation. My laptop is in production now- I'd love to know if I can somehow end up with this N7JHH part in my laptop.

Cancel the order and re-order -- this time, choose the mSATA option at purchase.  If you do not, the mSATA  board won't be installed in the system.

The laptop I ordered didn't have the mSATA option, otherwise I would have chosen it!

hi when you look at your order spec it lists everything part of that order

memory harddisk etc

there should be a line for Daughter board -

either Daughter board W/MSATA or W/Wireless / the one with wireless does not have the Msata slot.

i have ordered this very same part from a specialist near Heathrow airport LONDON

www.chilternitparts.com/productDetail  (15 pounds excl delivery)

If you paid 43 you gor ripped off.

plus to install this board after build is tricky. It's beneath the keyboard and you really need to rip open the laptop to do it. Bare in mind you need to add a msata drive as well.

I have a dell 15R 5520 and HEARD this board will fit my laptop tooo. CAN some MODERATOR FROM DELL CONFIRM.

GOOD LUCK M8
