8, i, k,, and + keys not working
Another Latitude user with the same problem. Thank you for the postings on this site, there is no information anywhere else on the Dell tech support for this all to common problem. The fix worked for now - we will see how long! I wonder what the percentage is of Latitudes that have this problem?????

"... and we can arrange the service for you, and provide you with
detailed
instructions for shipping. The typical cost of repair is $239
(plus $699
if the LCD or motherboard needs to be replaced). Please note
that the
diagnostic fee will take effect even if you opt to not have the
system
repaired when the repair center contacts you with the repair
cost
estimate."
My problem is sporadic. Guess I'll have to go into that machine to check the cable. Anyone know where I can find instructions this repair?
Thanks

I've updated to A04 Bios and still get the same thing. Tech's had to come out and replace keyboard... but 1 machine has produced the same error 1 week after getting the same keyboard.
If you guys find a fix... POST IT!!!

Unfortunately for me this was not reflected on the dell site (maybe a feature to add? *hint, hint*). So to get back on topic, if this problem is occuring with almost all cpx laptops (and an inside connection with dell tells me it is), isn't dell legally liable to issue a recall or fix the design flaw and provide fixed motherboards?

Try at your own risk.

I am a system admin and support tech for a major automotive supplier and we have a ton of the cpx's that have this issue occassoinally. Everytime we call (because we keep them warrentied) they already know what the issue is and end up just sending someone out who replaces the motherboard and the issue is resolved. Now I haven't noticed if it happens again to the same notebook down the line. So far I would say no according to our trouble ticket requests. So I would say Dell should be helping those who have this issue since they know its something that is happeneing and to the same model. Thank goodness we have warrenties but if we didn't or I was a home user of this model I would complain. It may be that they just figure those are older models and its just easier if you decide to get it fixed because its out of warrenty to make you think you should just buy a newer one. Who knows. I have no complaints about Dells service and I really do like their PCs but with this model I really think something should be done by them.
Have a nice day,
M
