8600 LCD specs

I have been searching the net for the specifications (veritcal and horizontal sync range) for "LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array, NO-SPWG, 15.4, SHARP" (part # U0674). Has anyone had any luck in finding this information? If so, please respond. I am working on something that requires this information.

I wish dell provided better hardware specifications on their site!

Interesting. So xfree86/xorg just completely ignore horiz/vert sync ranges when it's dealing with an LCD?

hsync and vsync doesn't exist for LCDs, because they dont work the same as a CRT.

functional ranges, for use in X or something, would be vsync 31.5-150.0 and hsync 48.0 -> 0.0.

Thanks for the response.

Can you paste the URL where you got that info? I appreciate the response, but I'm specifically looking for the horizontal and vertical sync ranges.

Thanks!

They use it to generate valid modes, but video card isn't sending refreshes at any particular rate, because a LCD doesn't need to do that.

Hence the pretty wideband ranges I gave for hsync and vsync - you put them that wide so the Xserver will recognize the highend hsyncs as valid for the moinitor and go from there.

Though i dont know why you are writing your own LCD definitions, there are tons of sites that have working XF86Configs you could adapt - just search google for 'linux inspiron 8500'
