ATI Mobility 9800 265mb

Hi, my kids have the inspiron 9100 with the 128mb video card.  I'd like to upgrade them to the  ATI Mobility 9800 265mb.  I'll need 3 cards.  2 questions:  where do I get the cards, and can I install them  myself?

Thanks

Tom

Thanks so much.  Is this difficult to replace?  I'm pretty handy with a computer.

You can look at the service manual linked above and judge that for yourself - it's not hard, but make sure you work carefully and slowly as many of the screws and other parts are small, easy to damage, and flimsy.

Hi Tom,

Did you have any success?  Did you end up buying this part from Dell?

Nope.  Dell is out of this part, and I don't think they're getting more.  Wish I bought this part sooner!

Thanks Bryan.  Do you think these are new or refurbs?

Not sure if you upgraded to the 9800 yet. I ordered from Dell parts I got a confrimation email back that part C7070 was being shipped. I freaked out called Dell asked what this was two sales people could not explain it so I cancelled the order. I emailed cs and ripped them a new blank-t-blank. Got a call from a sales the next day and according to them the C7070 "Kit" is the Radeon 9800 inluded is the installation cd. I said ok reorder but when I open the box is it going to say Radeon 9800, they said yes. So in a week, because it is available, I should get it. I have to many upgrades in my 9100 to go out and get an hp media center, $350 vs $900. Maybe next year. If anyone knows about the C7070 let me know.

I looked up Impact Computers & Electronics on resellerrating.com and it's a toss up on ththeir reliability. They have a scarry return policy.
